Our school program serves students in grades K – 8 and offers independent study options for students in grades 9 – 12. Some students may be identified as gifted and many of our students are diagnosed or meet the criteria for diagnosis of a learning disability or other childhood disorder such as autism or AD/HD. However, these labels have little meaning at the Lighthouse School. We subscribe to a growth mindset, which is shared with all of our students and their families. We know that all of our students have strengths and understand that we all have areas where we need to improve. As we work to increase our world knowledge, self-awareness, and social cognition, some specific academic skills we work to improve include:
- Reading Fluency
- Reading Comprehension
- Written Expression
- Listening Comprehension
- Verbal Expression
- Math Concepts and Processes
- Handwriting and Keyboarding Skills
- Study and Organizational Skills
