Last week, we spent five wonderful days in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, at the beach house of Jon’s uncle. This stop wasn’t part of our original plan, but we revised the plans after Uncle John offered us the chance to stay at their place for a few nights. So appreciated!
The beach house was perfect for us! It’s an adorable little place with two bedrooms; the girls were excited to have bunk beds, since they usually have to share a double wherever we go.
Our week involved lots of relaxing at the house and getting various schoolwork and business-related tasks done during the day.
Our evenings consisted of sunset bike rides to the beach where we could sit on the beach, wade in the water, dig in the sand, and splash in the waves while enjoying the sunset.
A short, twilight ride back to the house, and we could spend the evenings eating Jon’s fabulous dinners, enjoying beverages, and listening to holiday music. The girls and I even made a couple of pecan pies with Alabama pecans. We FaceTimed my mom in L.A. to get her special recipe. At night, we enjoyed our desserts and watched Netflix together. We chose a few family movies and, to my great excitement, I got everyone into Gilmore Girls!
All in all, this was a perfect spot to gather ourselves and spend a few days with nothing specific planned and no time pressure. Awesome!
