Over the past several weeks students here at The Lighthouse School of Ojai
have been participating in weekly art classes with Holly Woolson of Tire Swing Studio.
The students began with learning about the importance of line and color.
Each student focused on the unique expressive possibilities of using line in a fun,
collaborative art project.
The students also learned about the color wheel and how
primary and complimentary colors are used in art.
Our Students mixed six colors to create a color wheel and learned about the
logical relationships of primary and secondary colors.
They then applied what they had learned to a painting of their own.
Holly then discussed abstract art and famous abstract artists with the students.
The students applied their knowledge of the elements of art to create various types of lines,
shapes, and colors into a collage
using Henri Matisse and his collection of Jazz collages as their inspiration.
In the upcoming weeks our students will create 3D art using various media,
study local architecture, and learn realistic approaches to still life drawing techniques.
