This week the students of the Lighthouse School learned the basics of wilderness first aid and creating a first aid kit. Students discovered the importance of understanding your surroundings, assessing the situation, and staying calm in emergency situations. The students then put together their own first aid kits that included the basics for injuries one might sustain on a day hike.
The hikes this week included trips up Pratt Trail, Cozy Dell, and to Piedra Blanca during which our student group leader helped her fellow classmates follow the Social Thinking group plan. Our students are becoming knowledgeable and confident hikers!
