This week the students of the Lighthouse School of Ojai revisited what they learned earlier in the year during their Hiking P.E. Unit and planned an afternoon hike through The Meadows Nature Preserve next to Nordhoff High School. The group discussed the expected and unexpected behaviors for hiking they learned through their Social Thinking curriculum, as well as the proper attire, food, and drinks they would need for their afternoon out. The students also created a group plan for their hike, which included staying with the group and checking in with each other to decide when to take breaks and get water. The hike was beautiful and the students had a great time!
