This week the students of the Lighthouse School visited the Ojai Public Library. There, they perused the selection of books and movies to find items of interest. After choosing books, the students spent some time reading and relaxing in the library’s Children’s Section. The students also had the opportunity to use their Social Thinking by detecting the hidden rules of a library: talking quietly, walking instead of running, putting books and movies back exactly where they came from, and being respectful of other library patrons’ space. In the coming weeks the students will be continuing to expand their growing social skills by visiting local restaurants and stores.
