This week, the students of the Lighthouse School visited the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History to get an in-person look at many of the things that they have been studying this school year. The students visited different exhibits including the Geology & Paleontology Hall, the Hall of Mammals, the Marine Hall, and the Hall of Plants and Insects. One of the highlights of the trip was the Curiosity Lab where the students were able to do some hands-on exploration of different aspects of the museum. They particularly enjoyed looking at different rocks, minerals, and shells under the microscope, to get a detailed look at these interesting objects! The students also enjoyed the Hall of Plants and Insects, which featured exhibits on the Monarch butterfly and bees. Throughout the day, the students practiced following their Social Thinking group plan, which included staying part of the group and following the hidden rules of the museum.
