This week, the students of The Lighthouse School started their hiking unit in P.E. This unit aims to teach them about different aspects of hiking- from the physical and emotional benefits to identifying plants and animals that live in the Ojai Valley and the surrounding areas. Today they tested their walking shoes by hiking up Shelf Road in Ojai. While on our outing, they practiced their Social Thinking topics of the day- finding the Hidden Rules of the hiking trail and noticing moments of “Just Me” Thinking and those of Thinking About Others along the way. We had a great start to our hiking unit and are looking forward to more fun nature walks and hikes in the coming week!
