We discussed social smarts today as Mickie Ellis read You Are a Social Detective book as part of our Social Thinking curriculum.
As a class we discussed examples of unexpected and expected smarts. We talked about how others think about us in various social aspects based on where we are and what we are expected to do at that time.
Our students learned when others do what is expected it makes other people feel safe and happy. When everyone is doing what is expected, everyone enjoys being together.
We know we can hear, see, and feel to make smart choices in different social situations.
We talked about examples of how we can use our social smarts in real life situations. We also talked about how we are always using our social smarts.
We will spend this semester developing and building strong social smarts!
