Today the students of the Lighthouse School visited the Santa Barbara Zoo. They were able to explore the entire park, ride the Zoo Train, and learn about animals from all over the world! The students were also able to use their Social Thinking skills in a new environment. Before leaving on their trip, they created a group plan that would allow them to see all of the exhibits in the park as well as have extra time to revisit animals they enjoyed. They also practiced expected behaviors at a zoo such as walking to each exhibit, talking quietly around the animals, and obeying all signage around the animal enclosures. The students had a great time and are enjoying the opportunities to practice their social thinking!
